What is “Heroes & Villains”

8. November 2017 By Christopher Young Leave a Comment

“Heroes & Villains” is a core Agile practices simulation game using Lego which forms part of our eXponential Agile Performance Practitioner (XAPP) Certification course.

The simulation gives participants a hands-on experience of using some of the core Agile patterns taught in the XAPP course, including:

Scrumban, a method which combines Kanban, the first and simplest Lean method, with the collaborative ceremonies that gave Scrum its form. It replaces the weaker aspects of Scrum with one-piece flow, continuously pulling backlog items into a “done” state rather than pushing new work into progress to maintain needless sprint commitments.

Sprints and Squads, which break down large and complex delivery challenges into self-managing teams operating in short time-boxed iterations to maximise feedback and learning.

Reviews and Retrospectives, the key Agile ceremonies which ensure stakeholder feedback and create double-loop learning cycles.

Work in Progress (WIP) limits which help reduce bottlenecks and ensure teams deliver finished (“done”) features rather than a myriad of unfinished pieces of work.

Cumulative Flow Diagrams to provide a continuous view of workflow across multiple teams per stream.

Previous knowledge is not required. Even if these practices are new to you, fun is guaranteed.

We would be happy to welcome you at the first ‘Heroes & Villains’ in London as part of our  London MeetUp group … and we hope to see you there!.

Be Agile!
